Social Tennis
The most important element of our club is our social tennis sessions. Social tennis provides regular opportunities for our members to get together and play doubles tennis with a variety of different players. These sessions are also used by our match players for practice as well as by our match Captains to select players for league fixtures.
What is ‘Social Tennis’ at BLTC?
Players turn up and go on court in fours in the order that they arrive and play a set to best of 8 games. When finished players come off, waiting players take priority and we then use a ‘peg system’ to randomly select the next 4 to play. All our social tennis is mixed, but depending on how things work out players will usually get a balance of mixed and Men’s/Ladies tennis.
Why Play Social Tennis?
During the summer many people phone up a friend or relative and arrange a number of games down their local courts. This is great, but where does it leave you when your tennis partner can’t make it or loses interest. Playing the same person time and time again can also lose its appeal after time.
Playing social tennis at our club will guarantee you tennis all year round and with a variety of different players. Also, with doubles you receive excellent exercise without it being too physically demanding if you don’t wish to make it so. Many tennis players play doubles well into there retirement years.
